2015 Recap. Best Photos and Blog Posts

The year of 2015 was an amazing year. I didn’t want to rush with publishing the recap because I was still going through all the best moments of 2015. Early in the year I became Sony Artisan of Imagery and my life changed. In February I launched Asilda Store and my life changed. I met Bellamy Hunt and got my M6 and my life changed. I had big dreams for the year that just ended and to be honest in many ways I didn’t expect to have such a year. Every December I make a list with goals and every …

My First Magazine Feature. Let’s Explore Magazine Right Now on Kickstarter

In all my years of shooting I never had a proper magazine feature. I can’t say that it’s something you can live without in the digital age, but it’s a definite validation of your success. I started shooting ballet less than two years ago and since then it has sort of become one of my signature series. I love being around the dancers and having the privilege to shoot the process that’s typically a very intimate and unavailable space for the masses. You can’t just go out and decide that today you’ll be shooting ballet. I was invited into this …

Microsoft Surface Book First Thoughts and Review. For Photographers.

Displays, of any sorts, are definitely taking over our lives. Phones, tablets, and computers for us, photographers, are essential to our work. Throw in a digital viewfinder of a mirrorless camera and you’re looking at a screen 20 hours out of a day. It’s a bit of this love hate relationship with all these devices. I haven’t been excited about laptops and phones in a really long time. I have MacBook and iPhone, and iPad mini for writing articles for the blog. I’ve been using Apple products for the last 5 years and at this point I am a little …

Asilda Giveaway

Doing the giveaways last year has been some of the most rewarding experiences in my life. It’s a weird feeling to have to tell the winners that this is for real and for absolutely no money they will get an awesome piece of gear. I loved it! At this point I have a bit too much camera stuff in my house, so it’s time to part with some of it and give it to the winners of my next giveaway. I though about putting these on sale, but I knew that I’d much rather ask for your help to spread the …

LA Auto Show 2013. Mixing my old life and new one.

Last Friday at LA Auto Show 2013 was amazing. I’ve never been to an auto show before even though I can easily pick up any conversation about vehicles. This year I decide to bring my camera with me and capture the photos in my own style. There were many interesting new models and cars I’ve never seen before. The gallery below is a short summary of the day and I hope you enjoy it. The photos are in street and fine art styles, which I’m more interested at the moment. It was fun to capture both kind of images and …

Model Shoot. Behind the Scenes and More…

Since I’m not exactly a studio photographer, I wanted to get some training and took a two-day workshop at LA Photography School. It was greally good and very productive. I am no expert on this in just 6 hours, but I defintely loved getting behind the scenes perspective and having my own way with these images and everything that was happening around me. We had three models, two makeup artists, and many different light setups. This is what I picked out to send to the model. Some of these images are my favorites of all time.
