Pacific Ocean

“The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever.”

– Jacques Cousteau

The ocean is never still. Nature is never still. I initially loved the idea of having the power to stop this force in my shots and play with the abstract forms and this energy that we never see still.

Living in Los Angeles and only a few miles from the Pacific Ocean, I have the privilege to have many beach days.

Call it a form of meditation maybe, but when you pay more attention to the waves, your mind gets still. You see turmoil in the camera viewfinder, but as time goes on you’re mentally more and more tranquil. The shots in this series are meant to be both – a turmoil of constant movement and a frozen moment of stillness.
